About Alex Adou, Manager of Percussion World
Alex Adou, born and raised in New York City, is a sixth grader currently attending the Special Music School at the Kaufman Music Center (in the school year of 2015-16) He attented the school since Kindergarten with his classmate, Benjamin Barham-Wiese, who is a member of the Percussion World Duo. Alex started school with his first instrument being piano, under the teachings of Sergei Krivonos, then later decided to switch to his passion: Percussion.
Alex is currently studying contemporary percussion with Chris Graham, and has performed pieces such as "Clapping Music for Two Performers" by Steve Reich, and Kodo Drumming piece, "Chonlima" arranged by Julie Angelis. Alex is also in the Special Music School Percussion Ensemble, and a new member of Face the Music. Additionally, Alex is also a member of New York's National Dance Institute Celebration team, which is a dance company created by former New York City ballet dancer, Jacques D'Amboise.
In the upcoming year of 2016, Alex Adou will be gladly entering the role as manager of Percussion World. Alex will also be participating in some performances, including our upcoming tour/concert, "It Ain't Just Noise".
